HANDMADE MULTICULTURAL MUSICAL
INSTRUMENTS![]()
SOUND WORLD,based
in the UK,makes and sells a wide range of handcrafted
multicultural musical instruments,almost exclusively using
bamboo. Several are based on instruments to be found in
many world cultures but specifically designed to accord
with western instruments and tunings.
All
the instruments are professionally tuned (where
appropriate) so that they are suitable for professional
musicians and practitioners as well as children, people
with learning difficulties and community groups; otherwise
they make decorative and unusual gifts.
Individual
commissions can be undertaken and instruments tuned to any
specified scale or key.
SOUND
WORLD
is committed to using sustainable and recycled materials
wherever possible.
To this end, most
SOUND WORLD
instruments use bamboo as primary material.

Bamboo is among the fastest growing species on earth and
properly cultivated is one of the most prolific of all raw
materials with a multiplicity of potential uses. It is very
strong, light, naturally beautiful and inherently musical.
All
SOUND WORLD
instruments are individually decorated.
