“Shishi
Odoshi”-Traditional Japanese
Water Garden Instruments
The
Japanese ‘Shishi Odoshi’ is a pivoted bamboo
cylinder that fills with water (From a running source) and
then tips on its pivot to let the water out.As it falls
back again,it hits on a rock (or chime) to produce a note
or percussive sound.The process then starts up again and
continues.
Children
can each make their own shishi odoshi and add it to a
collection to produce a huge variety of notes and movement
!!
