ANGKLETTES
![]()
Angklettes have a bright cheery sound to gladden the heart!
An angklette-EXCLUSIVELY made by
SOUND WORLD-
is a version of an angklung (qv)-that is,a set of tuned
chime-rattles where each chime plays the same note with two
tubes in unison (as opposed to the same note in two or
three octaves on an angklung). So a set of eight angklettes
can cover a diatonic scale from C to C' for example. They
are great for playing in a group, each player holding one or
two angklettes and playing like handbells. There are various
ways of playing an angklette-shaking from side to side;
holding by the handle or at the base; using them like
hammers against a hard surface (eg hard rubber)-and they
can play single or repeated notes or produce a brilliant
trilling!.They are very light, easier to manipulate than an
angklung and really well-suited to any kind of music
group,as well as being a valuable and interesting resource
for people working with children, the mentally handicapped
etc.
