ANGKLUNGS

set of tuned bamboo rattles, with a wonderfully cheerful
but hauntingly beautiful sound, the Angklung is a
SOUND WORLD
speciality, Dave King being one of the few makers outside
Indonesia. Angklungs come in a set of (usually) 8
chime-rattles comprising a one-octave diatonic scale,which
can be played by one player or shared round a group and
played like handbells.
They are extremely well-suited to community groups (e.g.
children/special needs) or as an unusual and attractive
gift. Easy to play, versatile and robust.

Each chime plays one note in two or three octaves (e.g. C -
C' - C") ( LISTEN!!-

and all 8 chimes come mounted on a unique stand, devised by
Dave King, where they are held in sprung tension. On the
stand they can be played by one player, or alternatively,
by means of a 'quick release' they can be removed and
played by a group of people, like handbells. Thus they are
well suited both to individuals and to groups.
